Job summary

Southland Industries in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification for design/build and rehabilitation efforts. You will provide ongoing technical guidance and resolve engineering issues on complex HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and other systems.

This role directs junior engineers, mentors peers, writes RFIs, and ensures designs meet standards.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License preferred.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience, including experience leading a smaller team.
• Experience leading a 10+ million dollar design build project with a DPM, APE or PE supervision.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers and mentor them.
• Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.

Job description

Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on projects ranging from new design/build to rehabilitation of existing facilities and systems. Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution as needed.

• Performs complex calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems


• Performs complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.


• Develops standards, methods, processes and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting designs


• Directs the workflow of less-experienced engineers on assigned projects. Mentors and provides guidance on designs and technical issues.


• Writes technical narratives in response to RFIs.


• Ensures designs are in compliance with engineering standards


• Influences or leads inter-discipline coordination
