Job summary

Gilder Search Group is recruiting a Structural Design Engineer to support SRNS with design and construction oversight of structural tasks for nuclear/industrial facilities. Responsibilities include static/dynamic load analysis, concrete and metallic design, foundation work, and vehicle/vendored document reviews.

Qualifications include a Ph.D./MS/BS with extensive experience and a working knowledge of STAAD and applicable codes (IBC, AISC, ACI, AWS, NFPA, OSHA).

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
• Working knowledge of STAAD.
• Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, AWS, NFPA, OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Analysis of structural systems for static and dynamic loads.
• Design of concrete, steel, aluminum, timber and composite structures.

• Structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and accident conditions.
• Prepare CSI specifications and review vendor documents.

Job description

Structural Design Engineer

Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks to SRNS.

Structural engineering tasks include:

• Analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs
• Design of concrete structures; design of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber and composite structures
• Foundation and anchorage design
• Structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions
• Preparation of CSI specifications; and review of vendor documents
• Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures

Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

Additional Experience Qualifications

The following experience/qualifications are required for this position:

• Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD.
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD and LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA.

The following experience/qualifications are preferred for this position:

• Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is preferred.

Additional Work Requirements

• Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed.

These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience. OR A MS with 8+ years' experience. OR A BS with 10+ years' experience or more.

BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
