Job summary

OLH Inc. is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for a 1-year contract to provide leadership in structural analysis and design across nuclear/industrial facilities. The role requires extensive experience with STAAD, national codes, and construction oversight.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in applicable science or engineering and 5 years of experience.
• MS with 8 years of experience in design/analysis.
• BS with 10 years of experience or more in design/analysis.
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current PE license in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
• Working knowledge of STAAD and relevant national codes and standards such as IBC, AISC, ASD, LRFD, ACI, AWS, NFPA, OSHA.

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define scope of technical programs and develop effective quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems
• Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality timely and cost effective results
• Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks
• Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad based experience in multiple technical fields to resolve complex problems
• Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning
• Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional areas of technical expertise
• Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles
• Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations
• Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution
• Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through ones area of technology
• Prepare plans including schedules budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management
• Develop schedules monitor progress monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed
• Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management
• Occasionally prepare reports for external publication
• Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies
• Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks to SRNS
• Structural engineering tasks include Analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads using manual computation and computer programs Design of concrete structures; design of steel aluminum stainless steel timber and composite structures Foundation and anchorage design Structural analysis for impact overpressure and other accident conditions Preparation of CSI specifications; and review of vendor documents

WORK HOURS

A 40 hour work week is scheduled

SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 58s 8 hourday; five days per week 410s 10 hoursday; four days per week and 980s 9 hoursday five days on week AA and four days on week BB Work week excludes SRNS holidays Each workday has 30 minute lunch Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education PhD degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5 years of experience
• OR A MS with 8 years of experience
• OR A BS with 10 years of experience or more
• Additional Education BS Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering
• Experience Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of ten 10 years of experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC AISC ASD and LRFD ACI AWS NFPA and OSHA
• The following experiencequalifications are required for this position
• Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of ten 10 years of experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD
• Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC AISC ASD and LRFD ACI AWS NFPA and OSHA
• Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed
• These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress walking for distances of over half a mile climbing ladders to access remote areas and dressing out in protective clothing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design CADD software is preferred
• Previous experience working at SRS PE license is preferred
