Job summary

SteelFab, Inc. in Charleston is seeking a Structural Connection Design Engineer to design bolted and welded connections for dynamic structures. This role requires in-person training in our Charlotte office for 2-3 years.

You will evaluate load cases, select optimal connection options, and support shop fabrication and field erection with advanced software including RAM, Risa, Bentley Structural, Tekla Structures, and Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and structural analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Assess contract structural and architectural documents to identify design requirements.
• Analyze load cases and combinations.
• Evaluate connection options for strength, economy, and constructability.
• Design high-strength bolted connections.
• Engineer welded connections.
• Use RAM, Risa, Bentley Structural for analysis.
• Create 3D models using Tekla Structures, Revit, etc.
• Support shop fabrication and field erection.
• Provide on-the-ground engineering during field erection.
• Evaluate projects for value and constructability.
• Attend design progress meetings with contractors and architects.
