Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Building Special Inspector for our New York City office. You will perform field inspections of concrete, steel, and masonry against plans, specs, and codes, preparing clear reports and ensuring quality and safety on building projects.

Under supervision you will verify structural plans, review shop drawings, and assist with pre-construction meetings. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential, with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 0-2 years of relevant post-education experience in construction inspection.
• Valid state driver's license.
• OSHA 10 Hr safety certification.
• Familiar with construction inspection principles, field practices, and codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical audiences.
• Ability to learn, multi-task, and comply with policies.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform concrete, steel and masonry inspection on projects.
• Inspect site conditions and coordinate with engineers for field issues.
• Review structural plans and shop drawings for compliance.
• Generate accurate documentation of inspection findings.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and respond to contractor questions.
• Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and client procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and project managers.
