Position Summary

Benesch is hiring a Structural Project Manager. This experienced role involves exciting, challenging, and complex assignments with opportunities for growth. As a Structural Project Manager, you will direct project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects, primarily bridges. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and a background in bridge design.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage project teams to deliver transportation projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, including cost forecasting and expense tracking.
• Lead the staffing of projects, supervise assigned staff and subcontractors, and mentor developing structural engineers.
• Contribute to structural design work as a technical reviewer or advisor.
• Adhere to internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking.
• Participate in business development and marketing activities, including networking and preparing proposals and contracts.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) required; M.S. preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license in Illinois preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in roadway bridge design, with management experience preferred.
• Experience with IDOT, ISTHA, CDOT and Chicagoland counties and municipalities desirable.
• Excellent written, oral, and client‑relationship communication skills.
• Strong organization and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work independently and deliver complete, reviewable deliverables.

Location

This is a hybrid position, allowing remote work with occasional office presence in Chicago, IL.

Compensation & Benefits

Illinois Pay Transparency: $130,000 – $175,000 USD annually, plus overtime and bonuses. The total package includes a competitive base salary, overtime, and performance‑based bonuses.
