About the Role

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer in one of the following locations. In this role, you will work collaboratively within a team to design, manage, and deliver transportation structural engineering projects serving local and nationwide clients.

Job Responsibilities

1. Mentor, manage, and provide QC/QA for Transportation Structural Team staff
2. Lead/perform designs as Engineer-of-Record for various bridge projects
3. Perform structural planning, analysis, and design for transportation projects
4. Supervise structural design work involving steel, concrete, foundations, and related structures
5. Manage client relationships, project scope, schedule, budget, and quality
6. Ensure QC/QA of structural designs and projects
7. Assist in preparing project proposals and qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
• Illinois Licensed Structural Engineer (SE)
• 8+ years of bridge engineering experience, including advanced typical structures
• Hands-on experience as Engineer-of-Record in bridge design, codes, calculations, and contract documents
• Proficiency with structural analysis and bridge design software
• Leadership, communication skills, and team collaboration
• Experience with IDOT and/or Tollway Bridge projects (5+ years)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex or railroad structures
• Master's in Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Project and client management skills
• NHI certification for Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
• Familiarity with engineering software such as Bentley CONNECT, LEAP Bridge, RISA-3D, etc.

Compensation and Inclusion
