CTL Engineering in Charleston, WV is seeking a Sr. Bridge Engineer to lead and manage bridge design projects from conception through completion. This role focuses on safety, WVDOH compliance, and effective client collaboration.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee design analyses, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality structural solutions for various bridge types. PE license in WV required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; MSCE preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in WV is required.
• 9+ years of bridge engineering experience, WVDOH focus.
• Strong knowledge of WVDOH standards and procedures.
• Proficient in bridge design software: LARSA, Merlin Dash, Leap Bridge.

CTL Engineering is hiring a Structural | Bridge Design Engineer!

We are looking for a Sr. Bridge Engineer who will lead and manage bridge design engineering projects from conception through completion.

• Your role will involve designing, analyzing, and evaluating bridge structures to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with WVDOH standards and guidelines.
• You’ll leverage your expertise in infrastructure design and creative problem‑solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.
• This position will use your experience to assist clients through our cross‑functional team dynamic and company culture.
• Help to mentor and train lesser‑experienced Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee bridge design and analysis projects in accordance with WVDOH requirements.
• Perform structural analysis and design for various types of bridge structures, including new constructions, widening and rehabilitations, slope stabilization.
• Prepare and review engineering reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
• Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing bridge conditions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Engineers and staff.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of WVDOH policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Help to mentor and train lesser‑experienced Engineers (EIs).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
  • Master's degree (MSCE) preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of West Virginia is required.
• 9+ years of experience in bridge engineering, with a focus on WVDOH projects.
• Extensive knowledge of WVDOH design standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., LARSA, Merlin Dash, Leap Bridge).
• Familiarity with detailing software such as Microstation and OpenBridge is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality work.
