Job Title: Structural Biologist (R5-R7)

Location: San Diego, CA

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Structural Biologist to support structure-based drug discovery (SBDD) projects focused on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Responsibilities include:

  1. Perform structure determination and drug design for GPCR and membrane protein targets as well as soluble protein targets.
  2. Apply biochemical, biophysical, and computational techniques to accelerate the generation of high-quality reagents for X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM studies.
  3. Determine structures and co-complex structures of protein targets for small-molecule and antibody therapeutics design.
  4. Develop integrative approaches to SBDD incorporating data from structural biology, biophysics, protein biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry teams.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in GPCR biology, pharmacology, and structure-based research.
  • Experience with protein engineering, biochemistry, and structure determination by X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM.
  • Construct design, molecular cloning, and protein expression/purification expertise.
  • Proficiency with chromatographic methods and HPLC/FPLC systems.
  • Experience with SDS-PAGE, Western blot, thermal shift assays, and ELISA.
  • Knowledge of computational tools such as CCP4, Phenix, COOT, PyMol, and Chimera.

Part-time telecommuting may be permitted. Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.

Compensation and Application:

Salary Range: $168,709 - $178,709 per year.
