Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Structural Biologist (R5-R7) to support structure-based drug discovery (SBDD) projects focused on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Responsibilities include:

1. Perform structure determination and drug design for GPCR and membrane protein targets, as well as soluble proteins.
2. Apply biochemical, biophysical, and computational techniques to generate high-quality reagents for X-ray crystallography and cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) studies.
3. Determine structures and co-complex structures of protein targets for therapeutic design.
4. Develop integrative approaches to SBDD, incorporating data from structural biology, biophysics, protein biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry teams.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in GPCR biology, pharmacology, and structure-based research. Specific experience includes:

• Protein engineering, biochemistry, and structure determination by X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM.
• Construct design, molecular cloning, and protein expression/purification.
• Chromatographic methods and HPLC/FPLC systems.
• SDS-PAGE, Western blot, thermal shift assays, and ELISA.
• Computational tools such as CCP4, Phenix, COOT, PyMol, and Chimera.

Part-time telecommuting may be permitted. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is required. The job location is San Diego, CA, with a salary range of $168,709.00 - $178,709.00 annually.
