Job summary

X-Bow Systems is seeking a Structural Analyst II to support analysis of ablative nozzles, motor cases, and other rocket motor components. The role blends finite element modeling with material response assessment to ensure structural integrity under high-temperature, high-load conditions.

Responsibilities include creating detailed finite element models, evaluating a range of materials, and correlating analyses with test data from hot-fire and subscale experiments.

Qualifications

  • Experience with finite element modeling of propulsion components.
  • Experience analyzing high-temperature materials and ablation effects.
  • Ability to correlate analyses with test data and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain finite element models of ablative nozzles and propulsion hardware.
  • Analyze composite, carbon-carbon, ceramic, elastomeric, phenolic, metallic, and bonded structures.
  • Evaluate pressure, thermal, mechanical, vibration, and combined-load conditions.
  • Assess stress, strain, deformation, buckling, fracture risk, joint loads, and material margins.
  • Model temperature-dependent material properties and thermal gradients.
  • Support coupled thermal-structural analyses and interpretation of results.
  • Evaluate ablation, recession, erosion, pyrolysis, and block changes on structural performance.
  • Analyze nozzle inserts, exit cones, insulation systems, liners, case interfaces, joints, and attachments.
  • Develop limit-load, ultimate-load, proof-load, transient, and qualification analysis cases.
  • Correlate analytical predictions with component tests, hot-fire testing, subscale testing, and inspection data.
