Job summary

Boeing Future of Flight in North Charleston, SC seeks an experienced engineer to lead structural analysis for Boeing 787 systems under a contract assignment. You will perform hand, FEA, and dynamic analysis and sign off on supplier documents while collaborating with domestic and international partners.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 9+ years of experience, with 5+ years in airplane systems stress analysis and 3+ years in hand analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Materials).
  • 9+ years of related experience or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of stress analysis on airplane systems.
  • 3+ years of classical hand analysis methods.
  • Experience with aircraft, heavy structures, hardware systems or interiors manufacturing/production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead stress analysis using hand, finite element, and dynamic simulation methods.
  • Provide lead signature for Boeing technical oversight of supplier documents, including drawings, analysis, test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish Airplane Systems Commodity designs.
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish load cases, interface architecture, and interface loads.
  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop test plans and configurations; support test execution and analyze/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components.
  • Document certification and test results for customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate failures and analyze improvements for in‑service products.
  • Develop analytical processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency.
  • Mentor and train team members as part of a growing new organization.
  • Develop certification documentation to support CFR Part 25 type‑cert projects.
  • Collaborate and oversee projects with domestic or international partners/suppliers.
  • Apply Part 21 and Part 25 Code of Federal Regulations knowledge and facilitate interactions with federal regulators.
  • Work under minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
  • 9+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of stress analysis on airplane systems or related structures.
  • 3+ years of classical hand analysis method experience.
  • Prior experience with aircraft, heavy structures, hardware systems or interiors manufacturing/production systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience on airplane systems structures including Avionics, Electrical Equipment & Installation, Environment Control Systems, Flight Controls, Flight Deck, Fuel Systems, and Mechanical/Hydraulic Systems.
  • Experience leading the development and completion of certification documentation.
  • Experience leading and/or providing oversight of structural test programs on airplane systems commodities.
  • Experience leading supplier technical oversight and collaborating with suppliers to solve technical challenges.
  • Current or prior DER/AR/E‑UM.
Pay Rate Range

Min Pay Rate $85 – Max Pay Rate $90 per hour (USD).
