Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Remote Compressor Design Engineer (Analysis Focus) to join their client based out of Greenville, South Carolina. The design engineer will focus on analyzing turbine components and presenting in design reviews. Responsibilities include building 2D and 3D finite element models in Ansys of Gas Turbine components. The role involves:

  1. Running structural, modal, or forced response analysis with thermal and mechanical loads.
  2. Post-processing modal results, including frequency and Campbell diagrams.
  3. Rotor post-processing: joint behavior, strength, and burst analysis.
  4. Supporting hardware design or modifications as the component owner.
  5. Collaborating with drafting, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
  6. Coordinating interfaces across Aero, Heat Transfer, and Materials into the Design Teams.

Additionally, the engineer will build and debug ANSYS models, document lessons learned and best practices, and handle host processing. The candidate should be capable of running simulations, post-processing, and summarizing results for both 2D and 3D designs. The role may start with design process, CTQs, and standard post-processing tools, then progress to executing on fielded or new designs, with documentation across internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years of Ansys Classic (APDL) experience.
  • 3 years of experience with 2D modeling in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and PMI (Product Manufacturing Information).
  • Understanding of drafting standards, GD&T, and fundamental stack-ups.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

  • Hypermesh FEA experience.
  • NX Unigraphics CAD software experience.

Compensation: $45/hr to $53/hr, with variations based on skills, experience, and education. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, HSA, FSA, DCFSA options, 401k with employer matching, paid sick leave, and other paid time off as per law.
