Job summary

The Boeing Company in North Charleston, SC invites applications for an Associate (Level 2) Structures Design Engineer to join the Wing & Empennage Life Cycle Product Team. You will work on structural requirements, 3-D CAD designs, and validation activities across the product lifecycle.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering, 2+ years of related experience, and MB Design proficiency, with preference for composite structures and experience on wing/empennage components.

• B.S. degree in Engineering with focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Materials Sciences.
• 2+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ years of experience with aircraft structural design.

Struct & Payload Design Engr (Structural Design) Company: The Boeing Company 787 Airframe in Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring for Associate (Level 2) Structures Design Engineers for our Wing & Empennage Life Cycle Product Team to work at our North Charleston, SC location. This is a great opportunity to work in the Commercial Airplanes South Carolina Design Center, as a Structures Design Engineer.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assists to develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the wing and/or empennage design.
• Develops, maintains and modifies structural designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
• Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
• Supports the development of certification related documentation for CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
• Collaborates on projects with international partners/suppliers.
• Actively supports the growth and development of a new engineering organization.
• Works under direct supervision.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1+ years of experience with aircraft structural design
• Experience working in a Model Based Design (MBD) environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• 1+ years of experience with design of composite structures
• Experience with CATIA and ENOVIA.
• Prior experience with manufacturing/production,
• Prior design experience on wing or empennage structures such as wing tips, wing box, wing center section, leading/trailing edges, horizontal stabilizer or vertical stabilizers.
