Job summary

AHS - Sherman Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to monitor, implement, and evaluate quality assurance programs and the stroke program. The role involves educating staff, collecting data for the Primary Stroke Center, and providing direct patient care as needed.

The ideal candidate must have a current Texas RN license and a BSN upon hire. Certifications in CEN and SCRN are preferred, alongside current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse License State of Texas / Compact License.
  • Must possess a BSN upon hire.
  • CEN and SCRN certifications preferred.
  • Current certification in CPR, ACLS, and PALS required.
  • Thorough knowledge of NIHSS and Stroke Patient Nursing principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Behavioral violence prevention certification as required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and evaluates quality assurance programs and patient satisfaction.
  • Educates physicians and staff on performance improvement opportunities.
  • Collects data to maintain Primary Stroke Center status.
  • Communicates results and issues with the Director of Emergency Services.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed.

Job description

Job Summary

Monitors, plans, implements, and evaluates quality assurance programs, patient satisfaction, the stroke program. Educates ED physicians and staff regarding performance improvement opportunities identified. Collects data required to maintain Primary Stroke Center. Provides direct communication of results/issues related to the stroke program with the Director of Emergency Services. Performs direct patient care, as needed, within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.

Education, Experience, Training
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse License State of Texas / Compact License
  • BSN upon hire
  • CEN preferred, SCRN preferred
  • Current certification in CPR, ACLS, PALS
  • Thorough knowledge of NIHSS and Stroke Patient Nursing principles & the ability to apply them to ensure quality nursing care to the stroke patient
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Behavioral violence prevention certification as required
