Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a full-time TH Staff Assistant 1 / Stroke Center Operations Administrator to manage Stroke Center operations and support leadership.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary meetings, prepare agendas, track action items, and handle regulatory documentation, dashboards, and policy updates to ensure readiness for surveys and continuous compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5+ years of related progressive experience in a medical center or healthcare facility.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Stroke Center operations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and stroke huddles three times weekly.
  • Prepare agendas, record minutes, and distribute action items.
  • Maintain calendars and coordinate meetings across departments.
  • Support Stroke leadership with operational initiatives and reports.
  • Coordinate communications among physicians, nursing, EMS, Radiology, IT, Pharmacy, Quality and HR.
  • Assist with policy development, revisions, and regulatory documentation (dashboards, presentations).

Job Description

The Department of Neurology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Staff Assistant 1 / Stroke Center Operations Administrator.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day Stroke Center operations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary Stroke Center meetings and stroke huddles three times each week.
  • Prepare agendas, record detailed meeting minutes, and distribute action items.
  • Maintain Stroke Center calendars and coordinating meetings involving multiple departments.
  • Support hospital leadership and the Stroke Medical Director with operational initiatives.
  • Coordinate communications among physicians, nursing leadership, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Neuro Interventional Radiology, Laboratory Medicine, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Services, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Human Resources, and hospital administration.
  • Assist with policy development and revisions. Managing presentations, reports, dashboards, and regulatory documentation.
Regulatory and Accreditation Responsibilities
  • Maintain Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification requires continuous monitoring and documentation rather than preparation immediately before surveys.
  • Support ongoing compliance by:
    • Coordinate The Joint Commission (TJC) Stroke Survey Readiness Program.
    • Maintain regulatory documentation.
    • Prepare agendas and minutes for regulatory readiness meetings.
    • Manage the Stroke Gap Analysis tracking tool containing more than 500 Advanced Primary Stroke Center standards across six regulatory domains.
    • Coordinate activities involving Medical Board, Human Resources, Nursing Administration, Institute of Continuous Learning, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Department.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3 to 5+ years of related progressive experience preferably in a medical center or health care facility.
  • Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.
