Job description

As a String Bass Instructor (Part-Time) within the String School, you will play a vital role in shaping the musical development of students from elementary through high school in a dynamic pre‑collegiate program administered by the Department of Music. You’ll join a collaborative community of educators dedicated to excellence in music education and student growth.

What You’ll Do

• Provide one‑on‑one and small group instruction to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels
• Select and teach appropriate scales, etudes, and repertoire tailored to each student’s development
• Coach chamber ensembles and support collaborative performance experiences
• Prepare students for solo recitals, concerts, and ensemble performances
• Partner with fellow String School instructors, parents, volunteers, and program leadership to support student success
• Participate in monthly teacher meetings and contribute to program planning and improvement

What You’ll Bring

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Bass Performance, or Music Education
• Demonstrated experience teaching string bass to elementary, middle, and/or high school students
• Experience with both Suzuki and traditional pedagogical methods

Anticipated hourly rate is $45+/hr.
