Job summary

Air Evac Lifeteam is seeking a Strike Float Pilot for full‑time air medical transport operations. The role includes 14-on/14-off scheduling, a base salary with a 15% geographic modifier, and stipend incentives for float and IFR credentials. The position requires extensive rotorcraft experience and current FAA rotorcraft certifications.

Expect adherence to safety procedures, rigorous preflight, and coordination with regional flight operations to ensure compliant, efficient patient transportation.

Qualifications

• FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate is required.
• FAA Helicopter instrument rating is required.
• Minimum flight hours and PIC experience as specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Create pilot information guides with locations, frequencies, and procedures for hospital/EMS flights.
• Conduct local area orientation as required.
• Inform Flight Operations Director when flight planning information is unavailable or outdated.
• Operate aircraft safely and in compliance with Rotorcraft Flight Manual and regulations.
• Monitor weather and forecast changes and respond accordingly.
• Perform preflight checks and document discrepancies and actions.

HAA Pilot Full-Time Opportunity

We're hiring a Strike Float Pilot to provide medical air transportation services for Air Evac Lifeteam's customers. Safety is a key pillar of our services.

Incentives

• Salary range $102,073 - $107,399 including 15% Geo Modifier
• $12K Float stipend
• $5K IFR stipend
• $15K Sign on Bonus, subject to eligibility
• Retention Bonus plans ($40,000 after 3 years plus additional retention bonuses once completed)

• Hourly position (any hours over 40 in a pay week is over time)
• EC135 AND Bell 429 IFR positions available

Responsibilities

• Creates pilot information guide to include location, frequencies, and procedures to be used, when flying into hospitals and other EMS agencies.
• Conducts local area orientation as required.
• Informs the Regional Director of Flight Operations anytime the necessary information for flight planning is not available or up-to date.
• Operates the aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual
• Monitors forecast changes and current weather situations
• Conducts preflight of the aircraft prior to starting shift and/or accepting any transports or flights. Preflight will be conducted utilizing the appropriate rotorcraft flight manual. Discrepancies noted during the pre-flight will be noted in the engineering log with a notification to maintenance of the discrepancy and what corrective action is being taken
• Reports any major malfunctions, aircraft damage, or injured personnel to Operations Center in the most expeditious manner
• Ensures that all operations involving Company aircraft are in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, the Air Evac Operations Manual, and any state or municipal regulation; thus ensuring safe, efficient transport
• Performs any housekeeping duties required to make the crew quarters and hanger area neat, clean, and presentable along with nurse, paramedic.
• Wash, wax, and clean aircraft, as needed, along with nurse, paramedic and maintenance personnel.
• Submits all appropriate paperwork in a neat and timely manner
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• 2000 hours total flight time
• 1500 hours helicopter time
• 1000 hours pilot in command
• 1000 hours turbine
• Minimum of 200 hours night (aided or unaided)
• 200 Instrument Hours (Actual / Hood / SIM) 50 Hours Actual in Aircraft
• Previous HEMS experience or equivalent – preferred
• 1 year experience with any GMR Air company – preferred
• BH429 or EC135 Experience preferred
• FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate
• FAA Helicopter instrument rating

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current FAA Class II Medical certificate
