Job summary

Centra Ground Transport in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Driver to provide routine non-medical door-to-door transportation for Centra patients under supervision. You will ensure safety and a respectful, enriching experience from door to door.

The role requires strong communication, vehicle safety inspections, and attentive reporting of any maintenance issues to your supervisor, with the ability to adapt to various transport needs including wheelchair and stretcher transfers.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia driver's license.
• Within six months of hire: EVOC level 2, CPR/First Aid, PASS training.

Responsibilities

• Providing exceptional door to door care to Centra patients.
• Entering safely into patient homes on a routine basis.
• Communicating all patient changes & needs to direct supervisor.
• Performing pre & post shift vehicle safety inspections, assuring vehicle is in proper operational condition and reporting any maintenance issues to relevant personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness of interior & exterior of Centra vehicle.
• Maintain all necessary records/documentation regarding participants/patients & vehicles.
• Transport patients who are ambulatory, wheelchair, and van stretcher.
• Communicating frequent changes to direct supervisor or Shift Lead.
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes between van stretcher, wheelchair shuttle, mental health, and courtesy shuttle transports.
• Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for providing routine non-medical transportation services for Centra Ground Transport under the direction of the Transport Supervisor(s) or designee. The Driver will be responsible for providing a safe and enriching experience for every individual from door to door. Driver will possess good communication skills. The Driver will perform pre & post vehicle safety inspections, follow scheduled transports, report & handle vehicle maintenance issues and communicate all participant/patient needs to immediate supervisor.
