Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space seeks a skilled structural engineer to conduct aerospace stress analyses for missile and spacecraft structures from concept to flight. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to guide architecture decisions and ensure structural integrity across the lifecycle.

Required are a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, experience in aerospace stress analysis of metals and composites, and active Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
  • Professional experience performing aerospace stress analysis of metallic and composite structures.
  • Active or Current Top Secret Clearance required to start; US Citizenship Required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis to define and evaluate missile and spacecraft primary and secondary structures, from early concept through flight.
  • Partner across a multidisciplinary engineering team to perform design trades, guide architecture decisions, and ensure structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Define and support structural test requirements, provide predictions, oversee test execution, and lead post-test activities to ensure requirements and objectives are met.
  • Prepare and present technical findings with clarity and confidence to internal teams, customers, and program leadership at key design reviews and technical forums.
  • Deliver high-quality analysis products and documentation.

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field
  • Professional experience performing aerospace stress analysis of metallic and composite structures
  • Active or Current Top Secret Clearance required to start; US Citizenship Required
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of stress analysis experience of metallics and composite structures
  • Experience using NX/Nastran, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Matlab, Mathcad and CREO for analysis of spacecraft, aircraft, or missiles
  • Experience in the planning and execution of structural development and qualification testing
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated, and able and willing to support multiple projects

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
