Job summary

The City of Staunton’s Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator II to join its Streets Division. The role involves operating medium and heavy duty equipment for street construction and maintenance, performing minor repairs, and participating in after-hours emergency services.

CDL with tanker endorsement and flagger certification are preferred with a clear path to obtain endorsements if missing.

Qualifications

• Experience operating construction equipment with similar duties.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and occupational hazards.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium and heavy duty equipment for street construction and maintenance.
• Perform minor repairs and routine servicing on equipment.
• Participate in on-call and after-hours emergency services on a rotational basis.
• Standby duty as required by the department.
