Job summary

Caltrans: California Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Operator II (will consider Equipment Operator I) to perform laboring and equipment operation to maintain California highways, bridges, landscaping, and roadside rests.

Under supervision, the operator will operate vehicles requiring a Class A commercial driver license with a tank vehicle endorsement and operate and service specified equipment used in highway maintenance, structures maintenance, emergency service, landscape, or

Qualifications

• Valid California CDL with endorsements and DMV medical may be required.
• Drug screening required prior to hire.
• CEO II requires Class A CDL with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement and DMV medical; CEO I requires Class B CDL with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement and DMV medical.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating state-owned or leased vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles requiring a Class A CDL with a tank vehicle endorsement and other equipment as listed.
• Maintain California highways, bridges, landscaping, and roadside rests while working under supervision.
• When not operating equipment, perform duties from related Caltrans operator roles as assigned.
