Job summary

The City of Bastrop Tx is seeking a Maintenance Worker to help maintain city streets, rights of way, and storm drainage systems. Under supervision, you will operate light to heavy equipment, perform manual labor in various weather conditions, and respond to emergencies to keep roadways and infrastructure safe and functional.

Essential duties include operating tools for maintenance, repairing roads and drainage, assisting with signage, keeping maintenance records, and following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of work experience operating light-duty equipment or equivalent training.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand-held, manual, gas, or electric tools for street and drainage maintenance.
• Repair potholes, concrete, and utility cuts on city streets.
• Assist with striping, signage, and site safety.
• Maintain records for work orders and inventory.
• Attend safety meetings and follow PPE requirements.
• Be available for on-call, overtime, and weekend work as needed.
