Job summary

The City of Kenner, La. is seeking a lead worker to supervise Streets & Drainage crews in the Public Works Department, overseeing roadway maintenance and safety on concrete and asphalt surfaces.

You will schedule activities, inspect sites and equipment, and ensure timely completion of daily and weekly reports. Responsibilities include training new employees, coordinating with the Superintendent, and maintaining records such as work orders, leave schedules, and FEMA documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma, GED, HiSet, or equivalent certification of competency with three years of experience in roadway maintenance or construction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must possess a valid Louisiana Class D driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with Superintendents to determine projects; maintains roadways of concrete and asphalt, curbs, and bridges; responds to road hazards.
• Supervises work crews; schedules job activities and functions; monitors subordinates’ performance and attendance.
• Communicates safety procedures and expectations; inspects worksite and equipment; reports incidents.
• Inventories and orders supplies.
• Prepares and/or process various records and reports such as progress reports, inspection sheets, daily / weekly schedules, weekly and daily reports, inventory, annual leave schedules, accident reports, FEMA documentation, etc.
