Job summary

City of Glenpool is seeking a Streets and Parks Laborer to maintain City streets, parks, signage, sidewalks and related facilities with a focus on safe, efficient operation of equipment in outdoor environments. The role includes diverse tasks from mowing and gardening to repairs and cleanup.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; you will work with the Streets and Parks team to support residents and visitors while upholding city safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating light to heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to follow safety policies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Cut grass and trim weeds on city property and parks using lawn mower and weed trimmer.
• Dig flower beds and plant flowers using gardening tools.
• Clean buildings, wash windows, and empty trash cans.
• Paint interior and exterior walls and trim.
• Operate a backhoe to dig trenches.
• Drive truck and load fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck.
• Repair streets and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete.
• Removal of snow and ice during winter months.
• Maintain and repair municipal buildings' plumbing and electrical systems.
• Repair or replace building brick, stone, and concrete.
• Maintain and repair wood parts of buildings.
• Replace worn or damaged parts.
• Hand wash vehicles.
• Perform related tasks as required.

Primary Work Location: Outdoors

Physical requirements: Often required to work non-traditional working hours which include weekends, holidays, and nights. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, controls, or tools. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license

Job Summary: The Streets and Parks Laborer performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City streets, parks, signage, sidewalks, curb & gutter, street lighting, parking structures, storm water system, and the operation of medium and heavy construction and other specialized equipment while providing seamless cooperative service to our residents and visitors.
