Job summary

City of Idaho Falls is seeking a Street Operator-in-Training to join our public works team. You will help maintain streets, alleys, storm drains, and City‑owned property, performing outdoor, hands‑on tasks that keep our infrastructure safe and accessible.

The role requires physical endurance, ability to work in all weather, and a valid Idaho CDL with tanker endorsement (or progress toward one). Residency and standby requirements may apply. Comprehensive benefits follow.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of city geography and basic maintenance procedures.
• Awareness of hazards and safety precautions related to field duties.
• Basic proficiency with standard hand tools and heavy‑duty trucks.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction, maintenance and repair of city streets and related facilities.
• Operate small power tools and machinery; assist in snow removal and traffic control.
• Prepare ground for asphalt/concrete work and assist in patching.
• Ensure equipment and safety practices meet city standards.
