Job summary

City of Alvarado seeks a Streets Division Supervisor to plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets and drainage systems. You will oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and coordinate projects to meet safety, quality, and budget standards.

Responsibilities include supervising personnel, operating heavy equipment, inspecting infrastructure, maintaining records, and coordinating with contractors and regulators.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public works or related field, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in daily street construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling, assigning, inspecting work, providing training, evaluating performance.
• Coordinate and oversee construction and maintenance projects to meet plans, budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Inspect streets, alleys, drainage facilities, and related infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs.
• Operate heavy equipment and machinery safely.
• Review construction plans, specifications, and technical documents; identify field discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain safe work zones with traffic control devices and safety measures.
• Maintain records of work activities, project progress, equipment usage, and expenditures; prepare reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and other City departments on street maintenance and infrastructure projects.
• Respond to service requests, citizen concerns, and emergencies related to streets and public services.
