Job summary

The City of Evanston seeks an experienced Streets Division Manager to oversee street, alley, and sidewalk maintenance, leaf collection, and snow removal operations. You will manage staff, plan budgets, and coordinate with city leadership to ensure safe, cost-effective public works services.

The role requires strong public works knowledge, leadership, and the ability to communicate with residents and City Council. A bachelor’s degree and supervisory experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or related field, and five+ years public works experience with two+ years supervisory work.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain NIMS ICS certifications within 18 months of employment.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record; Class A/B CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of street, alley, sidewalk maintenance services, leaf collection, and snow removal operations.
• Manages and supervises division personnel; evaluates work performance; recommends disciplinary action when appropriate.
• Plans and implements work schedules for street maintenance to meet standards.
• Prepares and manages budgets for streets division; monitors expenditures and seeks cost-effective solutions.
• Maintains records and reports; responds to inquiries from citizens and public/City Council.
• Oversees recruitment and selection of division staff; coordinates with other city departments.
• Attends City Council and neighborhood meetings; coordinates with Project Management and Bureau Chief.
