Job Summary

This position is responsible for participating in the repair and maintenance of city streets.

Major Duties

• Performs a variety of laboring tasks to repair and maintain city streets and drainage systems.

• Patches holes with asphalt; smoothes and levels asphalt.

• Weed eats and mows grass on rights-of-way.

• Collects litter and debris along roadways.

• Flags traffic at work sites.

• Operates a variety of equipment, tools, and vehicles; cleans and maintains equipment, tools, and vehicles.

• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.

• Cleans and restocks park restrooms.

• Assists in the installation and maintenance of street signs.

• Guidelines include city policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

Complexity/ Scope of Work

• The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather and heavy traffic contributes to the complexity of the position.
• The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance and repair of city streets and infrastructure. Successful performance contributes to safe and well-maintained streets.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment

• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
• The work is performed in an office or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

• None.

Minimum Qualifications

• No Experience required.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Preferred Commercial Drivers License
