The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Street Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Streets Operations Department. The Town employs over 340 full-time staff across various departments including police, fire, and electric utilities, and offers part-time positions in Parks & Recreation, Library, and Cultural Arts.

Employees perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual labor tasks such as constructing, maintaining, and repairing streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signs, and more. Tasks include operating light to medium equipment, pouring and finishing concrete, installing storm drains, and assisting in minor repairs. Hazards include working outdoors in extreme weather, exposure to noise, mechanical parts, dust, fumes, and confined spaces. Work is supervised and reviewed for compliance with standards.

Responsibilities include:

1. Maintaining and repairing streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage.
2. Operating trucks and loaders; assisting with asphalt work and street grading.
3. Cleaning storm drains, landscaping, and installing storm drainpipes.
4. Setting up safety signs, flagging traffic, and snow removal.
5. Participating in installing street signs, painting markings, and maintaining traffic signals.
6. Trimming vegetation and performing routine equipment checks.
7. Completing work orders; operating street sweepers and leaf vacuums as needed.
8. Performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and safety procedures for street maintenance.
• Experience with concrete or asphalt work preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Equivalent experience may be considered.
