Job summary

The City of Fort Scott is seeking a dedicated Street Maintenance worker to join our Public Works team. This role maintains streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient transportation for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities include pothole repair, crack sealing, snow removal, sign and signal maintenance, and ensuring a safe outdoor work environment across all weather conditions. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in street maintenance or construction preferred.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Patch potholes, crack sealing, and resurfacing.
• Operate street maintenance equipment.
• Assist with snow and ice removal.
• Clean storm drains, gutters, and catch basins.
• Assist with installation and repair of street signs, traffic signals, and pavement markings.
• Respond to citizen requests professionally.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Street Maintenance Supervisor or Public Works Director.
