Job summary

City & Borough of Sitka Alaska is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets and related facilities. The position requires operating a range of equipment, performing asphalt and concrete work, and assisting in storm drainage and sign maintenance.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience in concrete/asphalt work or heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent plus relevant experience.
• Some experience in concrete or asphalt construction and/or heavy equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled labor tasks in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks and related facilities.
• Operate medium and heavy equipment such as backhoes, rollers, asphalt saws and loaders.
• Patch, repair and maintain streets and sidewalks, including asphalt patching and resurfacing.
• Perform snow removal, salting and safety setup for traffic around work zones.
• Assist other departments and respond to work orders as assigned.
