Job summary

Sitka, City and Borough of (AK) is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker I/II to perform routine and mid‑level maintenance on CBS facilities, ensuring safe, reliable operations for employees, tenants, and the public.

Under supervision, you assist with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life‑safety tasks, conduct inspections, operate power tools, respond to on‑call emergencies, and participate in a preventive maintenance program in Alaska’s climate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Alaska driver's license with clean driving record.
• Experience in construction or maintenance preferred.
• Experience working with basic construction or maintenance tools and equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with supervisor to report progress.
• Document daily work activities in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
• Inspect facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
• Operate power tools and equipment as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of construction areas and project sites.
• Assist with inventory of maintenance supplies and with quotes for products and services.
• Perform snow and ice management for CBS infrastructure.
