Job summary

The City of Lufkin is seeking a Crew Leader II in the Street Department to lead a team responsible for street maintenance, repair, and construction activities. You will coordinate crew assignments, ensure work quality, and promote safety and teamwork on every project.

This essential position requires a high school diploma, at least three years in street maintenance with leadership experience, and a valid Class C driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in street maintenance/construction with leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid Driver's License Class C and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a crew engaged in street maintenance, repair, and construction.
• Plan and organize daily work assignments and schedules for crew members.
• Coordinate with departmental supervisors, managers, and staff for effective communication across crews.
• Monitor work progress and productivity, identify improvements and implement actions.
• Train new crew members on methods, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
• Perform hands-on work alongside crew members to meet deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and PPE usage.
• Maintain records of crew activities, hours, materials, equipment, and progress.
• Provide input on performance, training needs, and equipment requirements to supervisors.
• Respond to all weather-related and ROW emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
