Job description

Now Brewing – Strategy Manager, Coffeehouse Market Planning and Growth! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As strategy manager, coffeehouse growth planning in Coffeehouse Development, you will drive our North America coffeehouse growth strategy. You will lead the development of enterprise guidance on where Starbucks will focus its growth, orchestrate the planning cycle that translates our ambitions into executable market-level plans, and consolidate the growth plans and pipeline data that support decision-making. You will connect long-range strategy with real estate opportunity, development timelines, pipeline maturity, unit-level economics and regional market dynamics to guide our development efforts. Working across Real Estate, Construction, Finance and Analytics, you will turn complex data and business questions into clear priorities, scalable tools and decision-ready recommendations.

As strategy manager, Coffeehouse Market Planning and Growth, you will:

  • Lead long-range growth and pipeline planning – develop multi-year growth scenarios that connect enterprise objectives with market-level opportunity, real estate dynamics and capital targets
  • Build market-level plans and performance frameworks – convert long-term growth ambitions into specific, market-informed growth targets and development priorities
  • Improve pipeline visibility and data integrity – define consistent measures for pipeline health, maturity and expected performance; reconcile different data sources and lifecycle definitions; and partner with analytics and technology teams to create outcomes-driven planning analytics
  • Connect unit economics to portfolio strategy – evaluate how evolving business direction and development strategy influences long-term growth strategy and translate new direction into meaningful targets and KPIs
  • Guide complex development decisions – partner with development leaders on complex growth plans and site decisions, using data and modeling to build clear, cohesive recommendations
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner across Development – bring structure to ambiguous questions, clearly explain assumptions and tradeoffs, and translate complex analysis into concise recommendations for senior leaders and cross-functional partners
We’d love to hear from people with:
  • Strategy acumen: Progressive experience in strategy, market planning, corporate finance, development finance, real estate strategy, portfolio planning and/or a related discipline – 4+ years
  • Excellent communication and executive presence: with the ability to simplify complex topics, frame decisions and communicate risk, tradeoffs and recommendations with clarity. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and build strong cross-functional alignment – 2+ years
  • Growth and development analytics experience: Experience in statistics, modeling, business intelligence, and spatial analytics. Strong understanding of retail economics. Experience in retail, restaurant, consumer, real estate development, or multi-unit portfolio planning preferred – 2+ years
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results; proficiency in retail unit economics – 2+ years
  • Systems and tools acumen: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, geospatial software, and experience with enterprise data, visualization and reporting platforms – 2+ years
  • MBA or master’s degree preferred
