Job description

Now Brewing – Sr. Technical Product Manager! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As a Technical Product Manager, you’ll identify business problems and opportunities, define success metrics, and translate needs into clear epics and user stories so engineering teams can design, build, release, and monitor solutions efficiently. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment and bring a passion for simple, engaging experiences.

You will help build the next generation of Starbucks’ integrated planning capabilities, bringing together supply chain planning, data, analytics, optimization, and enterprise technology into a cohesive product ecosystem. This role requires both deep planning-domain expertise and the technical fluency to partner with engineering teams building differentiated capabilities in-house, while integrating effectively with commercial and enterprise platforms where appropriate.

As a Technical Product Manager, you will…
  • Define product value and direction by aligning business and technical objectives, setting clear priorities, and establishing product health/performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Translate needs into buildable work by writing well-formed epics/user stories, defining acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, continuity), and clarifying tradeoffs, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Drive delivery and outcomes through iterative Agile practices, partnering with design and engineering on sizing and planning, removing blockers, facilitating user review/acceptance, and measuring feature success post-launch to improve product health.
We’d love to hear from people with:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Business, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise technology products, including products that support business-critical planning and operational processes.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, with demonstrated knowledge of demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, replenishment, capacity planning, and/or integrated business planning.
  • Experience building or leading enterprise planning products, with the ability to translate complex planning processes and business requirements into scalable product capabilities.
  • 5+ years of experience using analytics, optimization, forecasting, scenario modeling, or decision-support capabilities to inform product strategy, prioritization, and planning decisions.
  • 5+ years of experience partnering cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Data, Engineering, Architecture, and other business and technology teams.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on product management experience, including defining product vision, multi‑year roadmaps, capabilities, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering closely with engineering and design teams to take complex capabilities from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to define planning workflows that connect demand signals, forecasts, inventory, supply constraints, business rules, and operational decisions within an integrated planning ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business processes, identify opportunities for automation and optimization, and convert them into clear product requirements.
Preferred qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience delivering technically complex enterprise products involving multiple engineering teams, shared services, upstream/downstream dependencies, and cross‑team roadmaps.
  • Experience building an in‑house or highly customized supply chain planning platform, rather than relying exclusively on packaged planning applications.
  • Deep understanding of end‑to‑end planning concepts such as forecasting, demand sensing, supply and demand balancing, inventory optimization, replenishment, allocation, constraints, exception management, scenario planning, and what‑if analysis.
  • Experience designing solutions with, configuring, extending, or integrating commercial planning platforms such as o9, SAP, Oracle, or Anaplan, combined with an understanding of when business capabilities should be built internally versus delivered through packaged solutions.
  • Experience integrating planning solutions with enterprise systems such as ERP, order management, inventory, procurement, warehouse, transportation, point‑of‑sale, and financial systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of APIs, event‑driven integrations, batch interfaces, ETL/ELT pipelines, master data, and other integration patterns used to connect planning and operational systems.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering and architecture teams to define data models, source‑system requirements, data contracts, transformation rules, data quality expectations, lineage, and data flows required by planning applications.
  • Experience with data mapping, master and reference data, data governance, reconciliation, interface validation, and end‑to‑end integration testing.
  • Understanding of the data foundations required for planning, including product/item, location, supplier, inventory, orders, historical demand, forecasts, lead times, calendars, and planning parameters.
  • Experience defining and delivering planning algorithms, optimization capabilities, forecasting solutions, rules engines, or decision‑support services in partnership with engineering, data science, and operations research teams.
  • Ability to define measurable product outcomes using planning and operational KPIs, such as forecast accuracy/bias, service level, inventory availability, inventory productivity, waste, planning efficiency, and exception resolution.
  • Experience designing intuitive web‑based experiences for planners, including workbenches, dashboards, exception‑driven workflows, scenario comparisons, approvals, and decision‑support experiences.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work effectively with software engineers and architects, including the ability to understand system architecture, APIs, data models, integration designs, and technical trade‑offs. Prior software development experience is a plus.
  • Strong ability to influence without direct authority and align business and technology stakeholders around a shared product vision, architecture, roadmap, and sequence of investments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex planning and technology concepts for senior leaders, business partners, engineers, and end users.
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile product development, including iterative discovery and delivery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, dependency management, release planning, and product adoption.
