Job summary

Southern Company in the United States is seeking a Strategic Workforce Planning Analyst to act as the primary contact for workforce analytics, insights, and risk interpretation within an assigned region. You will co-author enterprise-level deliverables with HR partners using a common framework and materials.

The role focuses on interpreting trends, developing recommendations, and supporting dashboards and governance processes to ensure trusted, actionable insights across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Business, HR, Economics, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of experience in people/workforce analytics, FP&A analytics, consulting, or related roles.
• Ability to convert data into executive-ready insights and narratives.
• Proficiency with BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) and Excel; experience with HRIS/Oracle HCM data preferred.
• Knowledge of workforce metrics (headcount, vacancies, attrition, hiring pipeline).

Responsibilities

• Serve as workforce planning analytics and insights partner for an assigned region.
• Co-own workforce planning deliverables across enterprise, operating company, and business unit summaries.
• Identify key workforce signals and develop recommendations for action and progress tracking.
• Collaborate with Reporting & Analytics to develop dashboards with segmentation and what-changed views.
• Apply standard workforce planning frameworks with local business context for enterprise rollup.
• Reconcile data differences across HR baselines, staffing plans, and budgets with transparent drivers.
• Support planning data, tools, and training needs through partner feedback.
• Translate insights into practical actions with Strategic Initiatives Consultants and HR partners.
