Job summary

The Vice President for Philanthropy at the Joslin Diabetes Center reports to the Divisional Vice President for Philanthropy, Metro Boston at Beth Israel Lahey Health. This leader provides leadership and strategic direction for a national fundraising program, aligning priorities with Joslin and BILH leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience managing and developing a successful and comprehensive fundraising program.
• Proven ability to close major, principal and foundation gifts, with a track record of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Experience in medical philanthropy is preferred.
• Full understanding of all aspects of a comprehensive Development program, with focus on major and principal gift strategy.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements annual and multiyear goals for fundraising to create a sustainable, high-performing development function.
• Leads and mentors a team to maximize major gift fundraising opportunities.
• Manages a portfolio of high-level prospects and donors.
• Partners with executive leadership, President & Chief Scientific Officer, and Board to foster a culture of philanthropy.
• Oversees cultivation and stewardship opportunities to elevate donors’ support.
