Job summary

Petco is seeking a Strategic Vendor Management Analyst to join Merchandising Operations in California. You will help align people, process, and systems to execute a multi-year merchandising strategy, manage relations with strategic vendors, and support negotiation preparation with data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree.
• 1–2 years in Strategic Vendor Management or related role.
• Experience in management consulting or retail/CPG is a strong plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Project management skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Understanding of retail merchandising basics and end-to-end vendor management processes.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and interpret data to derive actionable negotiation levers and bottom-line results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to evaluate vendors holistically.
• Develop and synthesize merchandise and vendor scorecards and draw insights.
• Prepare category reviews, supplier playbooks, and negotiation materials.
• Identify sales, cost, and margin opportunities across SKUs and vendors through rigorous analysis.
• Support special projects related to assortment performance and cost management.
• Enhance documentation and audit processes for vendor agreements with product and IT.
• Create dashboards and reports to track progress against strategic goals.
