Job summary

Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist for its Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The role supports ALPA’s collective bargaining and wide-ranging communications initiatives, collaborating with MEC leaders and pilot groups to develop and execute strategic messaging.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in communications, strong writing and project management skills, and experience with social media, media relations, and web content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field is required; master's preferred or equivalent experience.
• Five years of experience in a communications role; aviation or labor union exposure strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication, with attention to detail in reviewing materials.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience developing strategic media plans and multi-media campaigns.
• Knowledge of ALPA policies, processes, and planning is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic communications plans to support MEC goals and ALPA initiatives.
• Manage social media, media relations, advertising, video, email, and web support activities.
• Coordinate with pilot groups and MECs to tailor messages and materials.
• Provide tactical communications support across projects and events.
• Ensure deadlines and benchmarks are met through strong project management.
