Job summary

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of transportation purchasing experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Knowledge of carrier operations, rate structures, contracts, tariffs
• Excellent negotiation skills

Responsibilities

• Establish and grow relationships with truckload, LTL, intermodal carriers in North America
• Manage RFQs to secure best rates and capacity
• Conduct regular meetings with core carriers to review cost and service
• Establish carrier performance standards and distribute monthly scorecards
• Improve under-performing carriers or remove them from the network
• Initiate contracting with new transportation providers
• Provide carrier training and onboarding for compliance
• Ensure tariffs reflect negotiated rates
• Use data analytics to identify cost/service improvements
• Proactively present savings proposals to senior leaders
• Collaborate with Penske sales to respond to RFQs
