Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Planning Specialist in the Department of Transportation to develop plans guiding funding and major transportation projects. Qualifications

Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-in-Training certificate (or equivalent) per PA board.
Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
Four years of civil engineering experience and an engineer-in-training certificate plus an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or closely related field.
One year of civil engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

Review engineering plans and cost data to support accurate project programming.
Maintain transportation planning systems and update project information as needed.
Prepare written and oral reports that summarize project status and program needs.
Work with project managers to align funding with project schedules.
Attend meetings and share program information with community groups and officials.
Use transportation databases to monitor obligations and produce required reports.
