Job summary

NFI in Illinois seeks a Transportation Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day freight loading and unloading, supervise staff, and ensure safety and cost standards are met across facilities.

You will partner with the Transportation Manager to design strategic plans, balance labor with workload, manage asset utilization, and ensure regulatory compliance while communicating with all levels of terminal staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business or related field.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in a supply chain environment.
• Experience with TMW and PeopleNet.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and willingness to certify.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations of facilities and subordinate staff including supervisors, coordinators, clerks, spotters, and drivers.
• Develops a strategic plan with the Transportation Manager to ensure efficient operations and cost effectiveness.
• Oversees asset management, delivery/logistics, regulatory compliance, productivity improvement and project management.
• Ensures customer pick-up and delivery requirements meet standards.
• Plans long-term labor needs based on sales, forecasts and historical data.
