Job summary

UC Irvine seeks a Training Grants Coordinator to support proposal development and manage day-to-day programmatic administration of training and research education grants jointly supported by the Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences and the School of Medicine.

You will assemble data, coordinate trainee processes, maintain records, and ensure sponsor compliance while collaborating with Program Directors, preceptors, and finance staff across campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, sponsor requirements, progress reporting, and compliance requirements applicable to training and research education awards.
• Knowledge of major research funding agencies and training mechanisms, including NIH, NSF, the U.S. Department of Education, and CIRM.
• Ability to interpret and communicate sponsor, institutional, and award policies and requirements to faculty, trainees, and administrative partners.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple awards, competing deadlines, detailed records, and recurring reporting requirements.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, postdoctoral scholars, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Assemble data tables and supporting documents for applications.
• Coordinate trainee recruitment, selection, appointment, onboarding, reappointment, and termination processes.
• Maintain required trainee and program records and support sponsor reporting.
• Monitor compliance with sponsor, institutional, and award requirements.
• Serve as primary liaison among faculty, trainees, administrative units, funding agencies, and partner institutions; support workshops and conferences.
