Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director of Technical Program Management to lead programs delivering critical business goals and scalable platforms for customers. You will also help expand the TPM discipline by sharing industry knowledge and building organizational capabilities.

You will drive TPM strategy, align roadmaps with business objectives, and oversee multi-team execution across platforms while measuring outcomes like availability, scalability, and developer velocity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
• Experience designing and building solutions using distributed computing or SOA.
• Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS.
• Experience building scalable products and platforms.
• Experience with Agile delivery.
• Experience delivering large complex programs in cross-functional teams.
• Experience in regulated environments.
• MBA or Master’s Degree in a related field.
• PMP, Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma certification.
• 3+ years of people management or influencing as IC.
• Experience driving platform standardization across multiple portfolios.
• Track record of TPM maturity at scale in engineering organizations.
• Exceptional communication and influence skills with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the TPM / Delivery strategy: establish operating mechanisms, maturity models, and tooling.
• Drive development of program roadmap anchored in business objectives and dependencies.
• Lead cross-platform technical investment planning and ensure architectural alignment.
• Serve as an executive escalation point for program risks and tradeoffs.
• Ensure measurable outcomes of platform success and delivery accountability across teams.
