Job summary

Cumberland County is seeking a Deputy Innovation & Technology Services Director to lead ITS teams, guide technology strategy, and ensure delivery of reliable, cost-effective services for the community. The role works closely with the Chief IT Director to align priorities with county initiatives and customer-focused public service.

The candidate will direct multiple IT managers, shape the ITS strategic plan, and oversee budgeting and multi-vendor environments to meet evolving needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field and five years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience.
• Master’s degree and PMP/ITIL certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and supervision to ITS Managers, including establishing performance expectations and addressing personnel matters.
• Directs departmental operations by adjusting schedules, workflows, procedures, and resources to ensure efficient operations.
• Develops, maintains, and implements the ITS strategic plan aligned with County goals.
• Leads long- and short-range technology planning for network, systems, and GIS, and for emerging technologies.
• Coordinates technology planning across multi-vendor, multi-system environments and ensures integration.
• Evaluates hardware, software, network systems to support current and future County needs.
• Advises the Chief Innovation & Technology Services Director on goals, staffing, and budget matters.
• Collaborates with County departments to identify technology requirements and recommended solutions.
• Develops and prioritizes departmental budget requirements for hardware, software, and resources.
