Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Project Manager in McLean, VA to lead strategic tech initiatives within the Strategy & Operations PMO. You will drive portfolio delivery across enterprise tech, coordinating with stakeholders, shaping backlog items, and delivering high-impact reporting to senior leadership.

This role emphasizes strong program management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure on-time, on-budget project outcomes and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience.
• MBA is preferred.
• PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on Capital One.
• Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate or escape as needed.
• Plan, design, manage and execute project plans through feasibility, design, planning and implementation.
• Translate complex technical data into clear narratives for senior leadership; maintain executive visibility.
• Maintain team health by establishing norms, refining processes and driving internal accountability within the PMO.
• Demonstrate outstanding communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

MBA (preferred)
