Job summary

General Motors invites a seasoned Advanced Engineering Lead to shape manufacturability and supplier readiness from design through launch. You will drive cross-functional collaboration, lead risk-based decisions, and oversee APQP, die-face strategy, tooling, and process validation with a data-driven approach.

You will partner with formability experts, interpret CAD and digital mockups, and influence teams across GM and suppliers to ensure program milestones are met while maintaining quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 5+ years in automotive assembly, stamping, supplier quality, or related areas.
• Experience with APQP, supplier development, and program reviews.
• Ability to investigate complex problems and drive solutions.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, aluminum, or UHSS manufacturing.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead Supplier Quality plan and Plan-For-Every-Part from design through tooling.
• Execute APQP activities and establish milestones and health reporting.
• Align design intent with supplier capability to prevent disruptions.
• Coordinate reviews of die-face strategy, stamping feasibility, and material utilization.
• Review supplier assembly processes and ensure plans meet requirements.
• Ensure compliance with GM standards and identify out-of-spec conditions.
• Serve as early technical voice for supplier capability and risk closure.
• Travel to supplier and GM locations for reviews and issue resolution.
• Coach teams on new requirements and use digital tools for tracking.
