Job summary

Sportech, LLC in Elk River, MN is seeking a Supplier Development Specialist to improve supplier performance and support new product launches. You will collaborate with Operations, Quality Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, and NPD to increase PPAP approvals, reduce scrap, and drive supplier capability improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field and at least 5 years in supplier development, with strong knowledge of lean, six sigma, and quality systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Supplier Development or related discipline.
• Strong manufacturing, process, quality systems and root cause analysis experience.
• Injection molding experience desired; metal fabrication & painting, electronics, and plastic extrusion knowledge appreciated.
• Demonstrated experience in problem solving using formal methodologies (8D, A3).
• Experience in supplier audits and selection.
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools and methods (VSM, CpK, GR&R, SPC, 5S, 5 Why).

Responsibilities

• Select, onboard, train, and develop the supplier base.
• Act as primary QA resource for supplier issues and corrective actions.
• Communicate significant issues to suppliers and ensure timely resolution.
• Support supplier inspections and testing to standards.
• Track supplier metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee supplier approvals, audits and capability assessments.
