Job summary

PT&P, a Houston‑based manufacturer of engineered pipe supports, seeks a Subcontracts Manager to lead subcontracting lifecycle across cutting, welding, machining and fabrication. This hands‑on leadership role partners with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Finance to translate drawings into clear scopes of work and manage risk.

The ideal candidate has at least 15 years in industrial manufacturing, strong negotiation and contract administration skills, and

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in industrial manufacturing firms, subcontractors, or fabrication suppliers.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, specs, tolerances, welding requirements, and production schedules.
• Experience developing scopes of work, issuing RFQs, negotiating terms, administering subcontracts, and managing changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full subcontracting lifecycle from make-or-buy input to closeout and final performance review.
• Develop clear scopes of work by translating drawings, BOMs, specifications, codes, inspection requirements and schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, warranties, and risk allocation; perform cost analysis to support decisions.
• Monitor safety, quality, cost, schedule, and documentation; drive recovery plans for late or nonconforming work.
• Coach teams in disciplined subcontract management and maintain stakeholder communications.
